Picture a situation that many importers will recognise. An importer in Gurugram has a container of Bluetooth speakers arriving at Nhava Sheva in ten days. The goods are ready, the buyer is waiting, and then the customs broker asks a simple question: “Do you have your LMPC certificate, and do the boxes carry the Indian importer’s details?” The importer has neither.
For a business in that position, the choice of consultant is not an abstract decision. It determines whether the goods clear on time or sit at the port accumulating storage charges. This article explains, as plainly as possible, why so many businesses in that position turn to Standphill India.
Reason 1: A Track Record You Can Measure
Standphill India has completed more than 500 LMPC certificates up to 31 March 2026, with a 100% success rate on the applications it has filed. That volume matters. It means our team has already met most of the queries, document problems and authority practices that a new applicant is likely to face.
Reason 2: We Tell You the Truth Before You Pay
Every engagement begins with an upfront document check. If your documents are sufficient, we say so and proceed. If they are not, we explain exactly what is wrong, for example a business name that does not match between the GST certificate and the IEC, and we list the additional documents you need. You are never charged for an application that was bound to fail.
Reason 3: Same-Day Filing When Time Is Short
For urgent cases, our instant LMPC service files the application on the correct portal on the same working day once your documents are complete. In our experience, most complete applications are concluded within two to three working days. The final grant always rests with the Legal Metrology authority, but the delays that businesses usually cause themselves, such as missing documents or slow replies to queries, are removed.
Reason 4: Your Labels Are Checked, Not Just Your Form
An LMPC certificate does not make a non-compliant label legal. Under Rule 6 of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, every retail package must carry the importer’s or manufacturer’s name and address, the country of origin, the common name, the net quantity, the month and year, the MRP inclusive of all taxes, the unit sale price and consumer-care details. Since 21 September 2026, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, cosmetics and toiletries must also carry a green dot or a red or brown dot. We review every label before filing, because that is where most penalties actually arise.
Reason 5: We Follow the 2026 Rules, Not Old Habits
The Third Amendment Rules, 2026 made registration valid until cancelled, introduced a mandatory annual online update and required companies to name a director responsible for violations. The Jan Vishwas changes, in force from 1 May 2026, introduced an improvement notice for a first labelling lapse but raised repeat penalties to between ₹25 lakh and ₹50 lakh. Our applications and advice reflect all of these changes. A full summary is available in our LMPC registration guide.
Reason 6: Honest, Product-Wise Pricing
The statutory registration fee is only ₹500. Our professional charges are quoted per product, in writing, with the government fee shown separately. The instant service is priced as a premium option, so you choose it only when speed truly matters.
Reason 7: One Team for Every Approval Your Product Needs
The Bluetooth speakers in our example needed more than LMPC. They also needed BIS registration under the Compulsory Registration Scheme and, depending on the product, WPC-ETA approval for their wireless function. Standphill India handles LMPC, BIS (ISI Mark, CRS, FMCS and Scheme X), WPC-ETA, BEE, EPR, CDSCO and Model Approval under one roof. One team sees the whole product, so nothing falls between two consultants.
